James Rush, father of State Senator Michael Rush, passed away early this morning, February 23.

Former Chief Probation Officer for West Roxbury District Court and U.S. Navy Veteran. Beloved husband of Virginia A. (Meagher). Loving father of Mark and his wife Florinda, James and his wife Lisa, The Honorable State Senator Michael F. Rush and his wife Mary, Monica, Peter and Brendan.

Grandfather of William, Alex, Kevin, Kyle and Ciara. Son of the late John and Mary Rush of County Mayo, Ireland and Mission Hill. Brother of thate late Mary Cooney, Margaret Cullinane, Lillian Locke, Catherine Campbell, Martin T. and Henry Rush and Irene Driscoll. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Funeral from the William J. Gormley Funeral Home 2055 Centre St., West Roxbury, Saturday, Feb. 26 at 10:15 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:30 a.m. at Saint Theresa of Avila Parish, 2078 Centre St., West Roxbury. Visiting hours Friday 2-8pm. Relatives and friends invited. Interment St. Joseph Cemetery. Late U.S. Navy Veteran.
