Mt. Washington Bank Awards Scholarships to Students from West Roxbury

  • August 16, 2011

Ten students from five Boston neighborhoods were presented with scholarship proceeds from the Mt. Washington Bank Scholarship program at an awards ceremony held at Mt. Washington’s Gallivan Boulevard office on Aug. 10.

The following students from West Roxbury and Roslindale were award scholarships: John Federico, Marissa Solberg and Sean Sullivan. Also receiving an award, but unable to attend the ceremony was Emily Pereira.

This was the 18th year the bank has presented scholarship awards to students from the neighborhoods of Boston. A total of $15,000 in awards was presented this year.

Recipients were selected from a much larger pool of applicants by the scholarship committee.  Members of the committee are experienced educators from Boston area schools and colleges.

Boston City Councilors Maureen Feeney, Bill Linehan and Ayana Pressley joined Mt. Washington Bank President Ed Merritt for the presentations.

This year’s scholarship recipients will be attending the following schools: Boston College High School, Catholic Memorial School, and Elizabeth Seton Academy at the secondary level, and Florida Institute of Technology, Georgetown University, Harvard University, Holy Cross College, and Salve Regina University at the collegiate level.
