What Would You Do? Children's Service
- Name: The Stratford Street United Church
- Occasion: June 26th - Children's Sunday Service
Every Year for one Sunday in June, the children of The Stratford Street United Church Sunday School relieve the pastor and the adult choir of their Sunday morning duties. Amazingly, the children run the entire service. They lead the congregation in prayer and hymns, they play piano and violin, they sing solos, duets, and trios, and the older children write and deliver the sermon. “We can learn a lot from our children”!
It is an energizing and uplifting service, and Children's Ministry may be the “shot in the arm” which adults of all ages need! In celebrating the simplicity and honesty of our children’s faith, we embrace their fresh perspective.
This year, on June 26th, the Children’s Sunday theme is What would you do? (based on Matthew 10:40-42) This idea of welcoming, serving and helping segues into the Summer Sunday School program. Each Sunday this summer, the children will meet a new adult who will share their “Gifts” or “Abilities”. Children will learn through demonstration and activities how people welcome, help, do good work, and show kindness while doing what they love! A variety of occupations and interests include working with Animals, Art, Yoga, Math, Tools, Plants, and Music.
