18 BPS Students Awarded Full Tuition Scholarships

West Roxbury Academy, BLS and Urban Science Academy students among recipients.

 

 

Eighteen Boston Public Schools seniors will received full tuition scholarships, including students attending West Roxbury schools.

The students were honored on January 5 for being selected to receive Posse Scholarships. Posse Scholarships are full tuition scholarships to 39 participating colleges and universities.

Massachusetts First Lady Diane Patrick spoke to the students and Boston Public Schools Superintendent Carol Johnson was also in attendance. In the fall 1,300 students nationwide were nominated.  

Each college in the Posse Boston Scholarships selects 10 students so they can enroll as a group, or posse, and support each other on the way to graduation. Students are selected for leadership skills, as well as contributing to community.

The following are the students awarded scholarships, the high school they attend, and the college they will attend:

Boston Latin Academy – Georgina Dominique – Bryn Mawr College

Boston Latin Academy – Melissa Rodriguez - undecided

Boston Latin School – Angie Isaza – Bucknell University

Boston Latin School – Hatim Aitirhli – Union College

Brighton High School – Victor Oyadiji – Hamilton College

West Roxbury Academy – Ariel Baez – Denison University

Charlestown High School– Dioni Daley – Union College

Community Academy of Science and Health – Adrian Morgan – Union College

Dorchester Academy – Angela Trinh – Denison University

Dorchester Academy – Ra’Jene Martin – Denison University

Excel High School – Danielle Cadet – Bryn Mawr College

Edward M. Kennedy Academy for Health Careers – Mariah Watkins – Centre College

Edward M. Kennedy Academy for Health Careers  – Porshai Rivera – Hamilton College

Snowden International High School – Geguel Landestoy – Union College
