  1. Apply to be on the Boston School Committee, the deadline is Nov. 14 at noon.
  2. Tonight Blanchard's Wines & Spirits is holding a free tasting of more than 50 wines. 6-9 p.m.
  3. Trash/recycling collection is delayed one day due to the Columbus Day holiday.
  4. The Highland Civic Association is meeting on Thursday and will discuss the Boston Public Schools assignment system and its effect on kids and the neighborhood. West Roxbury Library. 6-7:45 p.m. City Councilor-at-Large John Connolly, a former teacher who heads the Council’s education committee, will be the featured speaker. Dues of $10 per household for calendar 2011 will be collected at the meeting. Highland Civic Association welcomes all West Roxbury residents and business owners to its meetings.
