1. The Boston Public Schools released five plans to improve the school assignment process for students last night. Check out the homepage for more details.
2. Tonight, decorated Iraq War veteran and the commissioner for the City's Department of Veterans' Services, Francisco Urena, will be speaking at the West Roxbury Neighborhood Council meeting. Urena will be discussing the role of Department of Veterans Services and how it help veterans. Any active duty, reserve or national guard person and/or his or her family may contact the City of Boston's Department of Veterans' Services for help with understanding federal, state and city laws and benefits that are available to them. 7:30 p.m. District E-5 Police Station. 
3. Friends, neighbors, parishioners, all are welcome to the Lobster Dinner sponsored by the St. George Orthodox Church of Boston Adult Fellowship is on Friday from 5-7 p.m. at the St. George Community Center, 55 Emmonsdale Road. Menu: Two boiled lobsters, baked potato, cole slaw, dessert and coffee. Price: $22.95. Children 12 and younger get one lobster or fish dinner - $15.  Take out orders will be available. 4. Today Bank of America’s is hosting a free, three-day homeowner assistance event. Attendees will have the opportunity to meet face-to-face with Bank of America specialists to review their full financial situation and alternatives to foreclosure, such as a loan modification or short sale, with the goal of walking away with a decision about their mortgage. Workshops and non-profit counselors will also be available on-site to provide financial education and budgeting tips. 5. On Thursday, West Roxbury Saves Energy presents "New Brook Farm: An Introduction" at the West Roxbury Library at 7 p.m. West Roxbury's national historic landmark Brook Farm (located on Baker Street off the VFW Parkway) in the 1840s supported a utopian agrarian community inspired by the Transcendentalists. Come hear about a group of local citizens leading a community effort to launch a New Brook Farm that will echo that history by supporting sustainable farming. New Brook Farm will also act as an educational tool for learning about the farm's past in addition to gardening, horticulture, food preparation and preservation, and more. Free.
