An Arabian Adventure by Tanglewood Marionettes; and a Huge Memorial Day Celebration

The Afghan/Iraq Moving Memorial Wall will be at the Memorial Day celebration on Saturday.

 

The weekend is coming and you're not sure what to do with the kids. Heck, maybe it's Thursday and you need to find something to do foster learning, get them out of the house or for a little r-n-r for yourself. 

Family Drop-In Activity at the Arnold Arboretum

On Saturday, May 28 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. families are invited to the Arnold Arboretum to drop in for scavenger hunts, science investigations, craft activities, stories, guided walks and more. The events are free.

Storytime with Erica and Barefoot Books

On Thursday, May 26 bring the kids for a free story time from 10:30-11 a.m. and again from 11:30 a.m. to noon at Kids' Fun Stop. For more information, call 617-325-0800.

Finagle a Bagel Children’s Music Hour

On Thursday, May 26 from 4:30-5:30 p.m. at Finagle a Bagel in Needham, acclaimed musician Ed Morgan performs a selection of original and classic children's songs and Jeannie Mac performs songs written by leading kids artists, original songs and everyone's favorites. A $3 admission per group is required in exchange for a $3 coupon for food and drink during the same performance.

Memorial Day Observation (come early)

On Saturday, May 28, the Association of Naval Aviation Patriot Squadron will sponsor a Memorial Day celebration from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., at the former NAS South Weymouth (now South Field Development).  The Shea Field Naval Historical Museum will be open free of charge all day and the Afghan/Iraq Moving Memorial Wall (sponsored by the Yarmouth Moose Lodge #2270) and the Rolling Thunder Motorcycle Club (sponsored by the Braintree Moose Lodge #413) will make an appearance.

An Arabian Adventure by Tanglewood Marionettes

On Saturday, May 28 and Sunday, May 29 from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. at the Puppet Showplace Theatre in Brookline, there will be a dozen beautiful handcrafted marionettes and exquisite storybook-type scenery, this is the tale of a Persian prince who must overcome many obstacles to save his ... beloved princess.

The show is recommended for ages 4 and older. The price is $10 for general admission and $8 for members.
