So when Blanchard's Wine & Spirits wins contests do they cut into their own profit and open up a fine wine in celebration? Either way, West Roxbury Patch readers voted Blanchard's as the best package store in West Roxbury, in a tough fought battle against Gary's Liquors.

Blanchard's netted 78 out of 170 total votes cast, for 45% of the vote. Gary's Liquors, which led going into Thursday only to lose by voting end today at 9 a.m., finished with 61 votes for 35%. Macy's Wine and Spirits took third with 27 votes for 15% of the vote. 

Stephen Smith commented: "I have to give the nod to Blanchards because of the extras it has with the seminars, wine tastings & teams up with Masona Grill for meals."

One commenter, George Williams still thinks of Gary's fondly from far away: "I agree with Steve. Gary's is the best, hands down. They have an outstanding selection as well as great prices and top notch service. Gary's is one of the places I miss now that we have moved to NJ."

WestieMom commented: "Blanchard's always has what I am looking for! I also recently enjoyed their wine tasting evening. Also, a shout out to Macy's, it's convenient and the staff is always helpful!"

And several commenters remarked on Blanchard's friendly, knowledgeable and helpful staff.
