Can You Help Rotary & Library Find Dictionaries a Home?

The West Roxbury Branch Library has a surplus of hardcover dictionaries and would like to find homes for them.

The West Roxbury Library and the West Roxbury-Roslindale Rotary want your help. The library has a surplus of dictionaries, and wants to place them in useful places.

"We’d like to find a nice home for these where they can be a resource to its users and we'd like your help. If you can suggest places to donate these dictionaries, we would welcome the suggestions," said Domenic Rebelo of Rotary.

Do you need a dictionary? Do you know of a school, organization or business that would benefit from having a dictionary or dictionaries? Please leave suggestions in the comment section.

I saw the Third International Webster's Dictionary at the library -- it's too big for most homes but it is an excellent dictionary and will provide information in greater depth than a quick look up on line will. Also important historically because language meanings and pronunciations change so quickly, it's interesting to be see how a given word was defined or pronounced 50 or so years ago.

Excellent points, Dolores. Those dictionaries are also historical references for our lexicon. Imagine bringing home the full Oxford-English Dictionary?! Us bookworms can dream about having the bookshelf space...
