During April vacation, students also headed to Montreal and Quebec City for a week of cultural immersion and diversion.

For freshman Jack Stark, the trip's highlights included Montmorency Falls, the Plains of Abraham and St. Ann's Cathedral in Quebec City. Stark also got his fill of poutine in Montreal. "Fries with chunks of cheese and gravy all over them," he recalled. "It was delicious!"

"The trip did a great job of engaging our students in a variety of ways, and that the boys responded well to those challenges," said Mr. Strum. "From dancing and playing spoons at the Sugar Shack to learning how to load muskets and cannons on the Plains of Abraham, these guys stepped up and made the most of the experience."

"My favorite image from the trip," added Strum, "is five of our young men sprinting full speed into the hurricane like conditions at the base of Montmorency Falls, the tallest waterfall in North America. It was a fun and unique experience that they will share for the rest of their time at CM and beyond."

"Another highlight for the boys was going to the Notre Dame Basilica," added Ms. Cells, "where we saw an organ with impressive artwork and design within the main church, an organ with over 7,000 and a gorgeous chapel where there is a 2-year waiting list to hold marriage ceremonies."

BERSI - the Blessed Edmund Rice Solidarity Initiative - began in 2002 as a means for students of all grade levels to have immersion opportunities during both school vacations and summer vacation.
