This is great news. I haven't met Elizabeth Warren in person yet. Still, she won my vote.

I believe she will put families at the top of her list of priorities in Washington, ahead of other interests that have plenty of money to pay for lobbyists, like oil companies and Wall St banks. And I think she'll be independent.

If Scott Brown declines to participate I'll be disappointed.

I was disappointed when he decided to cancel the final debate. His explanation kinda sucked too, he said that they had already had three. What he failed to acknowledge is that the debate is for the people, not just the candidates. To this day, his shortcomings have come when he's failed to live up to his own standard: the people's seat.

In addition to Grossman and Bump, I understand that John Kerry and Martha Coakley have also accepted invitations to speak. None of these four is running this year. Why is the speaking schedule being stacked with so many Democratic non-candidates? Unlike past years, it looks like this year's event is being turned into a partisan Democratic rally. One could hardly blame Scott Brown if he decides to avoid walking into an apparent ambush.

I'd like to respond to WesternCiv, this rally was put together with the cooperation of the Ward 20 Democratic & Republican Committees. All the candidates who are on the ballot in Boston's Ward 20 have been invited whether they be Republican or Democrat. As for Grossman & Bump they are statewide constitutional office holders. When this was being put together both the Ward 20 Democratic & Republican members putting this together thoughr the state wide office holders should be invited. Scott Brown has been to West Roxbury a number of times and gotten a good response so to descibe the rally as an ambush couldn't be further off base

What possible reason could so many Democratic NON-candidates be invited to speak but to cheerlead for Warren and overwhelm Brown? Yes, Scott Brown is well liked in West Rox, but this will be an especially Dem partisan crowd. And Republicans on the planning committee didn't really agree to invite so many Dem NON-candidates so much as some Dem members announced this was going to happen.

I very much agree with Neil's post above (11-2), although I have briefly met Elizabeth Warren, and found her to be heartfelt and courageous. The democratic party campaign handlers have had to teach her to be somewhat slicker in presentation, but behind the simplified campaign rhetoric is a very intelligent, aware person who really wants to work on the legislative issues facing our nation. She has ideas that will help prevent financial debacles such as we faced in 2008. OK, she doesn't drive a truck, or shoot deer, or chew tobacco, but she can draft, critique and support helpful legislation, and THAT it what we elect our senators to do. PLEASE consider voting for Elizabeth Warren!

Western Civ why don't you say who you are because I attended the meetings in regards to the Truman Rally and the question if the state wide office holders should be invited was asked and no one raised any objections to it. Clearly you've never attended a Truman Rally or you'd know that the people who attend it are respectful of all the candidates regardless of political party. Overwhelm Brown are you serious, Brown won West Roxbury when he won his Senate seat & no doubt will do well again, I think he can more than stand on his own
