Farmers Market Coming to West Roxbury Starting June 23
The Corey Street Market is a collaboration between Temple HBT, Theodore Parker Unitarian Universalist Church, West Roxbury MainStreets and Silverbrook Farm in Dartmouth, MA.
Beginning June 23, Temple Hillel B'nai Torah will host a farmers' market in the parking lot at 120 Corey St, in West Roxbury.
The Corey Street Market is a collaboration effort between the temple, the Theodore Parker Unitarian Universalist Church, West Roxbury Main Streets and Silverbrook Farm in Dartmouth, MA.
This is a CSA or consumer supported agriculture, which means you buy a share or half-share. The CSA hopes to sign up 50 families to purchase shares. A half-share costs $20.50 (for 2 people) and a full share (feeds 4 people) costs $33.50 per week for 19 weeks. What you receive varies every week - you could get arugula, spinach, cukes, tomatoes, dill, and probably things you've never heard of!

"This is a wonderful farm - sustainable agricultural practices, beautiful quality, good prices, and LOCAL! We hope to arrange visits to the farm in the fall and to use this partnership with West Roxbury Main Streets and the Theodore Parker Unitarian Universalist Church to create wonderful synergies in our community!" wrote Benita Block of Temple Hillel B'nai Torah.

Is this a Farmers Market AND a CSA pickup or exclusively just a CSA?

They're calling it a CSA and a farmers market. But from the info it looks like it's just a pick-up. But I could see things changing if they don't get enough shares, or if there's a big response.

If that's the case then calling it a Farmers Market is a big mistake, especially when people drop by and are told they cannot buy anything outside of a CSA.

I see your point, Karl, and thought the same thing. We'll have to see how it goes. My friend who ran a CSA would sell off individual items to those who showed up not buying shares.

Looking at the flyer I would think it is an actual farmers market with csa. A csa only would not list eggs and cheese and would not be open for that long.
I am really excited about this!
