Dear Beethoven, Ohrenberger, Mozart, Bates, Mattahunt and Washington Irving schools families:
Making Music Matters! needs your help. For the first time in the program's history, we are faced with the challenge of being underfunded for the coming school year.
Our funders have been more than generous for more than a decade, but some are no longer funding programs such as ours. We need to increase our fundraising efforts to close this gap. We are kicking off this initiative by participating in the Walk For Music this weekend. On Sunday, a team of MMM! staff members and students will be joining in this two-mile walk around the beautiful Back Bay Fens (WalkForMusic.org).
There are many ways to help:
- Make a donation in support of the team
- If your child participates in MMM!, have him or her collect donations to support our team. All MMM! students have been given a Walk For Music packet containing an informational letter and pledge/donation sheet. Prizes will be awarded to our top fundraisers.
- Donate a prize to be given to our top student fundraisers. We are looking for kid-friendly items such as gift cards foriTunes, Barnes & Noble, Toys R Us, and local restaurants.
For those not familiar with the program, Making Music Matters! provides free instrumental music lessons to children in grades three through six, in six BPS schools, including the Beethoven and Ohrenberger.
The program serves more than 500 students in grades three through six at the Beethoven, Ohrenberger, Mozart, Bates, Mattahunt and Washington Irving schools.
Donations can be mailed to:
Making Music Matters c/o Beethoven School 5125 Washington St. West Roxbury, MA 02132
This entirely grant-funded program serves more than 500 students, providing them with professionally-taught lessons on the flute, clarinet, trumpet and violin during the school day.
Donations are tax-deductible and can be left for Making Music Matters! in the schools' offices.
Thank you for your support of this wonderful program. Please contact the Beethoven School at 617-635-8149.
