Getting to Know...District E-5 Community Service Liaison Kerry Egan
She's a civilian, and she knows the ins and outs of West Roxbury's police department.
National studies have shown that when a community knows its police force - crime goes down. The men and women who work at District E-5 are out on our streets day in and day out.
At West Roxbury Patch we are geared towards helping the community, so this week we will be having a series of Getting to Know several E-5 staff members.
Name: Kerry Egan, civilian, Community Service Liaison
Nicknames: No. Just Kerry. Some people just say Ke and forget the rry. Det. Laura Delaney calls Egan, "Kerry so very."
How many years have you been working with the BPD? 4. I actually worked at the May Institute in the afterschool program (before working at E-5).
Why did you want to be the community service liaison? I grew up in West Roxbury, so when I saw the link between being between the police and the community I think I’d be pretty good at it.
What do you like best about the job? That I get to run all of the events like National Night Out and do the softball games with the kids.
Favorite place to eat in West Roxbury? The Real Deal and Sugar. I always get the Turkey Terrific and the Uncle Junior. It’s so good.
Favorite thing about West Robxury? Everybody is really involved in the community. All the neighbors seem to really care about their neighborhood and that’s why it’s a nice place to work and live.
Hobbies: I run. Just did the marathon.
Where's your favorite place to run? I don’t enjoy castle island too windy. I usually love running down the VFW Parkway and all the way back down Centre Street.
