Gordon's Woods condominiums will fund a scholarship for a graduating senior from the Urban Science Academy.
The $500 scholarship is for a student pursuing an education in sustainable and renewable resources, which fits with the condos being an Energy-Star certified condominium complex at 990 VFW Parkway.
"Our commitment to the environment and the West Roxbury community inspired our team to get involved with the Urban Science Academy," said Kerri Bonarrigo, residential sales director for Gordon's Woods. "The building industry has evolved a great deal due to renewable resources along with our building practices. With the Gordon's Woods Green Builder scholarship we aim to help a deserving student while also raising awareness about importance of renewable resources and sustainability in construction."
The scholarship winner will be chosen from essay submissions, along with letters of reference. He/she will accept the scholarship at the class of 2012's Senior Awards Night in May.
Applications are available at the Urban Science Academy's guidance department office and should be postmarked no later than April 27, 2012. Students who are interested can apply by sending the application, a 300-500 word essay, and two letters of recommendation to:

What a great idea. While Boston students have many opportunities for free or reduced tuition at local colleges and universities, they still have expenses related to textbooks and fees. This scholarship will greatly benefit any student who receives it.
