A father and daughter from Norwood were charged with cocaine possession after allegedly being seen with cocaine in the car by Boston Police Drug Control Units in West Roxbury.

Around 3:40 p.m. on Oct. 19, John and Janice Campbell, both with listed addresses as 20 Highview St., Norwood, were charged with possession of a class B drug, cocaine.

Boston Police District's E-5/E-18 Drug Control Units were investigating the area of Rockingham Avenue, a known spot for drug activity, according to a Boston Police report.

Officers noticed the suspects sitting in a vehicle at 40 Rockingham Avenue with Janice examining an unknown item in her lap. The officers parked their vehicle directly next to the suspect's vehicle and observed a white powdery substance they believed to be cocaine, on top of a green colored paperback book on the center console.

A detective approached the side of the vehicle and saw the suspect allegedly trying to conceal a small plastic bag of cocaine. Officers identified themselves as BPD and asked the drivers to exit the vehicle, which they did.
