Parkway Pop Warner Campers Learn Football Skills at Billings Field
More than 100 young football players took to Billings Field to learn about tackling, blocking, and the option offense.
Last week, about 150 young athletes ages 6 to 14 endured the heat each day from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. during a Parkway Pop Warner youth football camp at Billings Field.
Volunteers and coaches from as far as Texas led campers in football and agility drills in the mornings, and the afternoons were for fun and games.
The camp was sponsored by The Link: Boston, a new community focused church that is starting in February 2013.
Ryne Deckard with The Link: Boston was positive about the week’s events, “For being the camp’s first year, it went off with very few glitches. It was awesome seeing the involvement of the volunteers and even more amazing seeing all of the kids having fun.”
Campers, some of whom just starting playing football, had the opportunity to learn and develop a basic understanding of football skills.
Parkway Pop Warner is currently holding online registrations (click here). Practices begin in August.
