Parkway Running Club Donates to West Roxbury YMCA Annual Fund

The West Roxbury YMCA is one of the area's leading non-profit organizationis. In 2012, the branch provided over $800,000 in financial assistance to those who came to the Y for help.

The West Roxbury YMCA thanks the Parkway Running Club for their generous donation to the West Roxbury YMCA’s Annual Fund. The funds were raised, by through the annual Walter’s Run, a 5K road race held in honor of Walter Burgess.

The funds were presented to chair person of the YMCA Board, Jim Hennigan and vice-chairperson Mary Mulvey-Jacobson by Louis Falcone, Cindy Gillian and Erin Dunne of the Parkway Running club. The YMCA partners with the Parkway Running Club each year to accommodate Walter’s Run participants before and after the race. All of the funds donated will go into the Y’s annual fund, which is used to provide financial assistance and supports programs such as Live Strong and our autism programs.

The Y’s Annual Fund Campaign is well underway for 2013. Every dollar raised goes directly to someone who needs it. Funds can be used to provide lowered-cost childcare, summer camp scholarships, membership scholarships, and also fund programs like LIVESTRONG at the YMCA, and Fit and Fun afterschool program, which caters to the needs of children on the autism spectrum.
