The Parkway Running Club is looking for new members and is reaching out to the community in hopes of bringing the joy of running to as many in the Parkway area as possible.
There are many benefits of running with a club and in the Parkway area. Runners of all levels — from the beginner runner, who is training for his/her first road race to the more experienced runner looking for a great group to train with for a marathon. Whatever your running ability, fitness level or training needs, the Parkway Running Club is a great group that will help you meet your running goals.
The PRC is also a very social club getting together regularly for social events including “Tuesday Night Fun Runs” and “Thirsty Thursdays.”
The PRC hosts the annual Walter’s Run 5k road race in December, and support many other races and charities through volunteer opportunities.
Group runs include:
- 5:30 a.m. Tuesday and Thursday from the West Roxbury YMCA. group of early morning risers who enjoy running through the streets of West Roxbury and chatting about anything and everything. Whatever your pace you will have no problems joining this talkative group.
- 6:40 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday from the West Roxbury YMCA. Tuesday nights are typically a five- to six-mile run through West Roxbury and Thursday nights tend to be more of a fun run to Millenium Park and can be anywhere from four to seven miles.
- 8:30 a.m. Saturday from the West Roxbury YMCA. This run typically attracts runners training for a longer distance race such as a marathon or half marathon, but all runners are welcome and there are options to run shorter distances.
- 9 a.m. Sunday from the Walter Street gate of the Arnold Arboretum. This is a fun run at a slightly slower pace through the Arnold Arboretum, Jamaica Plain, Forest Hills, and Jamaica Pond.

The good weather is here and there is no better way to enjoy it than running with friends.
