This week's Patch Picks is about spas. Please feel free to add your favorite spas to this list.
I'll be honest - I recently received a pedicure at Nails Maxx Company - and I went with my fiancee and I had a wonderfully relaxing time. It's not just getting your toes painted (I didn't get painted), but they massage your feet and legs with some type of green goo. All right, I'm probably not doing it justice, but if Nails Maxx could make me feel relaxed in such a non-macho setting, I know most of you will feel relaxed, too.
Besides doing manicure and pedicures, you can also get lots of places waxed, like your eyebrows or legs.
The three-floor operation offers spa treatments galore, including tanning, microdermabrasion, waxing, facials and even eyelash extension. This location employs 35 hairdressers and is also the New England distributor for all products related to the Japanese Bio Ionic hair straightening system. All of the shampoo chairs are equipped with massage mechanisms and hand massages come with most treatments. There is free Wi-Fi, an ATM on the premises and tons of parking.
There are a few people in this world who probably don't like getting massages, although I've never met one of them. I think you would be hard-pressed to find someone who wouldn't love a gift certificate for any of the options that Elizabeth Grady offers like acupressure, aromatherapy - and lots of massage types like deep tissue/hot stone/pregnancy/prenatal and Swedish.
Treat yourself to an intensive rehydration facial to rejuvenate dry winter skin or a hot stone massage to ease muscle tension and melt away stress.
This one is pretty darn new and located at the TenX Club on the VFW Parkway. While offering many of the same services as other spas, Blue Sugar makes a key point on their web site to let you know that they offer "Dream Parties" for bachelorette parties, wedding celebrations, or just a ladies day out.
There are private booths for manicures and pedicures, as well as candle lit treatment rooms.
Outside of the Parkway area, but worth checking out is the spa at The Mandarin Oriental Hotel, home to Boston’s “Only Five Star Spa.”
The Mandarin Spa at 776 Boylston St. takes a holistic approach to the spa experience, bringing you into full relaxation mode the second you walk in the door. Try it with your special someone, as the spa offers Sanctuary Suites for couples.

Can't believe you didn't mention locally owned Winnie's Skin Care Salon on Belgrade Ave in Roslindale. Her facials are to die for and the massage will make you feel like a noodle....here is the link to her site....http://winniesskincaresalon.com/index.html Barbara

Hi Barbara - but you did mention it! Thank you for putting it on the list. Feel free to add more! That goes for anyone else, too.
