Thursday wasn't the average day for the Patrick Lyndon Pilot School. Students and teachers headed to the John Hancock Hall in downtown Boston for the 29th annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration.
After waiting several months of postponings due to snow days, eager Lyndon students finally got to see their contribution to the celebration -- a large, colorful mural -- and enjoy artistic performances from Boston Public School students from all around the city, as well as words from Superintendent Carol Johnson.
Thirty-three Lyndon students (and many teachers) worked hours on the mural, even volunteering their recess times to complete it in time. Their colloborative effort was displayed in the entry of the John Hancock Hall on Thursday, a colorful greeting to the event.
