A police officer was injured when he or she wrecked while responding to an emergency call on Monday morning. The accident shut down the VFW Parkway.

An eyewitness to a Mondy morning car crash said the incident happened just after a "long line" of police cars came down the Parkway. The accident involved a Boston police officer responding to a West Roxbury incident and another motorist driving a Volvo station wagon.

Ariel Blanchard was eating breakfast with a friend when they saw a line of police cars streaming down the Parkway. Blanchard lives near the intersection of VFW Parkway and Lagrange Street.

After seeing the cop cars race through, there was a loud bang, according to Blanchard. "Within seconds," a fire truck was at the scene, and Blanchard went to call 911.

The firefighter license plates can be purchased by anyone. They are not just for fire personnel.
