Unemployment Ticks up in Boston Third Month Running
Boston's unemployment rate tops state rate for second month in a row, but is still 18 percent lower than the national average. How's West Roxbury doing?
The Massachusetts Executive Office of Labor and Workforce Development Tuesday reported seasonally unadjusted unemployment climbed in most areas of the state, including Boston.
The city's unemployment rate hit a low of 5.5 percent in March, then began climbing in May. The city's rate spent most of the year below the state rate, but rose above the state rate in June.
Both the city and state still have a lower unemployment rate than the 8.3 percent national average.
