Boston Mayor Thomas Menino has participated in many swearing-in ceremonies during his storied political career, but probably none quite the swearing-in of Lord Mayor Richie Gormley.

U.S. Sen. Scott Brown presented Gormley with a baseball bat so that newly sworn in unofficial mayor could maintain order. Sen. Brown also chatted on the phone with Governor Deval Patrick when he called to congratulate Lord Mayor Gormley.
