Ward 20 GOP Committee Thanksgiving Food Drive for Roslindale Food Pantry & Greater Boston Food Bank

Earlier this year, the Roslindale Food Pantry was almost completely out of food.

The Boston Ward 20 Republican Committee has organized a “Put the GIVING In Thanksgiving!” food drive from Thursday, November 10 to Friday, November 25, 2011 to benefit the Greater Boston Food Bank and Roslindale Food Pantry.

The Committee was deeply troubled that the Roslindale Food Pantry needed to put out an urgent plea for donations this past summer after their food stocks were almost completely depleted. As the holidays approach and winter weather arrives, the need is greater than ever during these tough economic times. The Committee’s goal is to collect 400 pounds of food. The food drive consists of two parts.

The first part is a traditional food drive where donations will be taken directly to the Roslindale Food Pantry (25 Cummins Highway at the Roslindale Congregational Church). This is the most direct way to help our local neighbors and friends who need a helping hand this holiday season.  You can arrange a food pickup from your home by calling Michael Scully at 617-327-0064.

The second part is a Virtual Food Drive to benefit the Greater Boston Food Bank.  The Virtual Food Drive is a new, fun way provide for those who need food assistance. Your donation to the Virtual Food Drive will allow the Greater Boston Food Bank to provide seven pounds of food for every dollar donated! From the comfort of home, one can make an online donation by visiting the Boston Ward 20 Republican Food Drive site by clicking here.

The Boston Ward 20 Committee thanks you in advance for your participation and generosity.
