West Roxbury's Janet Harrold designed a candle that will help defeat cancer.

There are three different designs and scents as a part of the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute's 2011 candle collection. Her candle entitled “Holiday Ducklings” features the Boston Public Garden’s famous mallard ducks, and is a cranberry orange scent. It is part of a festive collection of holiday cards, candles and ornaments to support adult and pediatric cancer care and research at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.

Harrold became involved with Dana-Farber’s Holiday Greeting Program as a way to give back. Said Harrold via a press release, “I believe in giving back in anyway I can, and realize the importance of raising money for cancer patient care and research."

Harrold said her candle's design was inspired from living in Boston and spending holidays in Beantown. She added she often uses Boston for artistic inspiration. Harrold is a floral design manager during the day, while spending her evenings painting.

The collection also includes three different candles and two ornaments that feature a Boston Red Sox or New England Patriots theme. The Dana-Farber Holiday Greetings collection can be viewed and ordered online at www.JimmyFundHoliday.org.
