The suspect appeared slightly intoxicated, smelled of alcohol, and seemed to have a hard time understanding any question asked by officers. He was allegedly slightly slurring his speech, and kept muttering, "I was sleeping." Officers did not observe any physical injuries to the suspect.

Officers interviewed a roommate on scene, who lives with the suspect and the victim. The witness (roommate) said that he/she said the suspect assaulted the victim and pulled the victim's hair. The witness added the victim "deserved" what happened because the victim had cheated on the suspect by allegedly kissing someone at a bar.
