A West Roxbury man was killed by another convict while in prison at the South Bay House of Correction.
Alexander Callahan, 25, was involved on Sunday with an "altercation with another inmate” according to the Boston Herald.
Callahan was serving time for cocaine possession from charges in June that Patch wrote about, as well as assault and battery.
A Suffolk County District Attorney spokesman said there is an ongoing investigation. Suffolk County Sheriff Andrea Cabral has chosen not to comment, according to the Herald.
According to the Herald, Callahan had a lengthy rap sheet including 14 convictions for drug, assault and weapon charges. There were another nine charges still pending, out of a total 40 drug, robbery, assault and weapon charges filed against him since 2004.

I could not agree more with the comment from MRK above. There is not a finer family in the WR/JP/Roslindale community than the Callahans. All the Callahan Brothers are extremley well raised gentleman, who you'd be proud to call neighbor or friend. My deepest condolences to the entire family during this very difficult time.

Don't call this kid or family great..this kid caused a lot of problems for A LOT of people..he was a bad soul who eventually was going to spend life in jail for his antics..I'm just glad everyone in the west Roxbury area doesn't have to watch their back from this mental case wannabe thug

He was going on year number 10 of stealing, assaulting people, dealin drugs, doing drugs, I just feel like he had his chances to change..he was gettin out of jail and immediately selling cocaine..he comes from middle class family..doesn't need money just did these things to improve his reputation as being "tough"..well that didn't end the way he envisioned it..god bless all the people who this jerk hurt and may he keep them safe
