West Roxbury's BPD Officer Vest Awarded GOAL New England Founders Award
Vest was recognized for his service to Boston by the Gay Officers Action League of New England.
A West Roxbury resident and Boston Police officer was honored recently for his work for the city by the Gay Officers Action League of NE.
BPD Commish Ed Davis and Mayor Thomas Menino honored BPD Officer Charles Vest, a resident of West Roxbury, with the GOAL New England Founders Award in recognition of his service to the City of Boston, according to a press release.
GOAL was formed in 1991 by Police Officer Preston Horton, who is currently with the MBTA Police in Boston. GOAL was based upon the principles of being a social and community organization comprised of present and former criminal justice system employees. It works as a support group for gays, lesbians, bisexual and transgender sworn law enforcement officers as well as civilian employees of federal and local agencies.
