More than $30 million has been donated by individuals and corporations to help those most affect by the Boston Marathon bombings.
One Fund Boston has gained official tax-exempt status from the Internal Revenue Service, meaning contributions are tax-deductible. IRS Spokesperson Peggy Riley confirmed to Patch that One Fund Boston was granted official 501(c)(3) status by the IRS, which is also posted on One Fund's website. One Fund Boston has received more than $12 million in public donations, and $17 milion from corporate donations, according to its site. Forms for victims to file for claims to receive money are being distributed on Wednesday, and money is expected to be handed out starting June 30. Noted administrator Kenneth Feinberg is heading up the distribution of funds.

Around 600 people attended the 2nd annual Taste of West Roxbury at the Irish Social Club.
Compared to last year's Taste, the 2nd annual Taste of West Roxbury had more attendees, and raised more money for West Roxbury Main Streets' revitalization efforts. "This year was a resounding success. We had roughly 600 people come through the Taste, as compared to around 400-450 last year," said Matt Gruber, board president of WRMS. In total, more than $22,000 was raised to support West Roxbury Main Streets' revitalization efforts, an increase of $3,000 compared to last year, said Gruber. This year's Taste featured 24 restaurants, one more than last year, offering up what they wanted to show off, and was held at the Irish Social Club of Boston. The cost of colonoscopies, MRIs, CT scans and mammograms can shift a lot from place to place.
It costs more than $1,000 extra to get a CT Scan in Suffolk County than in neighboring Middlesex County. That's according to data from New Choice Health, a private company that encourages people to become smarter healthcare consumers. With Boston's premiere hospitals and large health care organizations, the higher price tag on four common procedures is not entirely surprising. But Middlesex County's prices fall below the state average, making a short trip north and west of the city a potential money saver. These big regional differences have been in the news lately: As the Washington Post wrote on Wednesday, "One hospital charges $8,000 - another $38,000." Using the same data as the Post, The New York Times listed out the prices of a …

Neighborhood favorite, the Corrib Pub had a small stove fire last week, but was back up and running the next day for its West Roxbury faithful.
The Corrib Pub and Restaurant had a small stove fire on May 8 that caused the kitchen to only close for that night. While small, the fire still concerned Corrib fans far and wide, like California's Rose Hughes who posted on West Roxbury Patch's Facebook page: "Too bad. Hope it is back up and running for my next visit from CA!" Thankfully, the bar was open that night and the kitchen was back up and running the next day on regular schedule, according to a reply to Hughes by the Corrib Pub and Restaurant. "Our kitchen was closed only for the one night... thankfully no one was injured! New equipment was installed the next morning, we had inspections and opened for business at our normal 11 am on Thursday. Thank you to the West Roxbury Patch…
