DESCRIPTION:New Computers\, New Classes\,Community BenefitsStarting Augus
 t 15\, 2012\, the BCYF Roslindale Community Center will commence a serie
 s of computer learning courses in its recently upgraded computer lab.&nb
 sp\; The first course will be geared toward adult beginners and will cov
 er the basics of computers and the Internet.&nbsp\; The courses will be 
 taught by Roslindale resident\, George Vento.&ldquo\;George is an adept 
 teacher and has been with us for several years.&nbsp\; This will expand 
 our relationship with him and bring local talent back into the community
 \,&rdquo\; said Dennis Kirkpatrick\, a board member of the Roslindale Co
 mmunity School Council\, Inc\, which will be sponsoring the series in pa
 rtnership with the BCYF Roslindale Community Center.&nbsp\; &ldquo\;Geor
 ge&rsquo\;s background is in music and he has been utilized on and off i
 n our after school programs for a couple of years in that capacity\, so 
 this will show his many other talents.&rdquo\;&nbsp\; Vento has already 
 conducted successful computer learning courses in community centers outs
 ide of Boston.The adult learning course will start Wednesday\, August 15
  and run for a total of 10 classes over a period of 5 weeks\, meeting on
  Wednesday evenings from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM and Saturdays from 12:00 Noo
 n to 2:00 PM.&nbsp\; The initial course will be priced at $50 per person
  for the full course and will be limited to the first 18 persons on a fi
 rst-come basis.&nbsp\; New students can register in person by check at t
 he BCYF Roslindale Community Center\, 6 Cummins Highway\, in Roslindale 
 Square.The BCYF Roslindale Community Center is now also a public access 
 internet site as a part of the City of Boston&rsquo\;s &lsquo\;Public Co
 mputing Centers&rsquo\; project\, itself facilitated by a grant from the
  National Telecommunications and Information Administration.&nbsp\; As a
  part of this upgrade\, the center&rsquo\;s computer lab was upgraded to
  include 18 new\, state-of-the-art Windows 7 desktop systems.Public acce
 ss to the new computer lab is also now available.&nbsp\; The summer hour
 s are Monday through Friday 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM\, and on Saturday from 9:
 30 AM to 4:30 PM.&nbsp\; A wireless Internet option is available on requ
 est.The Roslindale Community School Council\, Inc. is a non-profit corpo
 ration which partners with BCYF on the community center&rsquo\;s program
 ming and acts as the center&rsquo\;s fiscal oversight body.&nbsp\; Membe
 rship in the Council is open to residents and employees of the Roslindal
