DESCRIPTION:Donna Melendez\, born and raised in West Roxbury\, is a marri
 ed mother of three who is battling Carcinoid Cancer. Donna was diagnosed
  in March 2009 and has undergone treatment in the United States since th
 at time. Valuable time in her treatment has been lost due to the rarity 
 of this type of cancer and consequently a misdiagnosis.&nbsp\;\nOn the h
 opeful side\, there is currently successful treatment in Europe where pa
 tients are responsible for the cost of the care\, travel\, and lodging. 
 There is no FDA approved treatment in the U.S. currently for this type o
 f cancer and therefore insurance coverage in unavailable. There is a scr
 eening process prior to being accepted into treatment abroad and Donna i
 s currently deemed a candidate.&nbsp\;\nOn Friday November 9\, 2012 Donn
 a's family and friends will be hosting a benefit on her behalf at the Bo
 ston Lodge of Elks\, 1 Morrell St\, West Roxbury from 6-10pm. Donations 
 raised at this benefit will be for Donna's treatment in Switzerland.&nbs
 p\;\nPlease help support our efforts by donating a company gift card\, p
 roducts\, gift baskets or services that we can raffle at the benefit. Al
 l donations large or small will be greatly appreciated.&nbsp\;\nMonetary
