Nominated for “Best Original Documentary Music Score” at the International Sound &amp; Music Festival in Croatia, the film highlights both the struggles and positive experiences that came out of the Covid pandemic. Here’s a review of “Growing Through Covid-19” from an Emmy award-winning movie &amp; theater critic:

At 148 years old, through 5 generations, family-owned Russell’s GC has survived many floods, the great depression, the introduction of the big box stores, competition from Amazon &amp; online stores, and the recession of 2008. However, in the Spring of 2020, with the pandemic raging, the family considered closing their doors forever. What happens next is truly inspiring.
The West Newton Cinema opened in 1937. Since 1978 the Theatre has been owned by the Bramante family operating as an independent community theatre showing a broad genre of films including foreign, family and first run.

The Boston Philharmonic Youth Orchestra (BPYO), composed of musicians age 12-21 from the East Coast, performs their final concert of the 2023-24 season under the baton of Founder and Conductor Benjamin Zander. The program opens with Robert Schumann’s Cello Concerto followed by Gustav Mahler’s monumental Symphony No. 5, which will also be performed during the BPYO’s five-city European tour from June 15-25. The concert can be experienced both in-person and via livestream.
Schumann's soul-stirring Cello Concerto features the virtuosic talents of cellist Zlatomir Fung, the youngest cellist ever to win First Prize at the International Tchaikovsky Competition. As Artist-in-Residence with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra in the 2023-24 season, Fung has appeared at London’s Cadogan Hall and is touring the UK with the orchestra. The 25-year-old has been hailed as one of the most promising young cellists of his generation: in describing his recital debut at Carnegie Hall in 2021, Bachtrack wrote "[He is] one of those rare musicians with a Midas touch: he quickly envelopes every score he plays in an almost palpable golden aura.” He last appeared with the BPYO in concert in 2022 as soloist on Elgar’s Cello Concerto and toured with the BPYO to Greece in June that year. The Westborough, MA native is a graduate of The Julliard School where he is also currently a faculty member.
Along with Dvořák’s and Elgar’s Cello Concertos, the Schumann is one of the great Romantic works for cello. “Schumann’s Cello Concerto requires an interpreter of the highest order,” says Zander. “Its moods are intimate, soulful, and confessional, almost like chamber music, and its three connected movements are like one long-drawn breath of lyricism that virtually cries out for Zlatomir’s subtlety and communicative power.”
Zander’s profound connection to Mahler's music has earned him significant recognition, including the very first Titan Award from the Mahler Society of New York. His passion for Mahler's compositions infuses every note with a profound sense of meaning and emotion.
