Treasurer Grossman in Westie; Miks Ross House Call; 'Shut Up About Your Perfect Kid' at West on Centre

On Friday, West Roxbury Cub Scout Pack 1 chartered to St. John Chrysostom Parish is having an open house for parents and boys who are interested in Cub Scouting.


  1. On Tuesday, West on Centre is hosting a ReadBoston ChickLits event with the authors of 'Shut Up About Your Perfect Kid: A Survival Guide for Ordinary Parents of Special Children.' Come hear authors Gina Gallagher and Patricia Konjoian, authors of one of the greatest-titled books ever - 'Shut Up About Your Perfect Kid: A Survival Guide for Ordinary Parents of Special Children.'  The evening will be fun and informative for parents. Tickets are $45 and include a wine reception and three=course dinner.   2. State Treasurer Steve Grossman will be the lead speaker at the West Roxbury Business and Professional Association's meeting on Wednesday at the West Roxbury Pub Function Hall. 1885 Centre St. 8 a.m.

On Wednesday, Springhouse Senior Living, a non-profit, independent living, assisted living community is offering a free presentation by author and speaker, Joanne Koenig Coste. Coste offers a practical approach to the emotional well-being of both patients and caregivers that emphasizes relating to patients in their own reality. 6:30 p.m. 44 Allandale St., Boston.
  5. On Friday, West Roxbury Cub Scout Pack 1 chartered to St. John Chrysostom Parish is having an open house for parents and boys who are interested in Cub Scouting. 6:30 in the Parish Hall. The Pack is open to any boy in grades 1 through 5 and includes scouts from West Roxbury, Roslindale, Hyde Park, Dorchester, and Mattapan. No association with the chartering institution is required.   6. West Roxbury's Jan Boyd 'Hope and Inspiration' exhibit is at the West Roxbury Library through October during regular library hours. It is featuring photographs of several of the pages of the book Jan created, which was presented to Pope Benedict XVI in 2008 with names of the almost 1500 people who had identified themselves as survivors of clerical abuse in the Archdiocese of Boston. Other current original work will also be on display.
