West Roxbury Student Part of MLK Tribute

Here are some things to know today, Jan. 16, in West Roxbury.

1. West Roxbury student part of city's MLK tribute: West Roxbury's Ifenna Chukwujama, 16, and the rest of the Boston Youth Symphony Orchestra will perform as part of the city's Martin Luther Kind Day commemoration and tribute. Ifenna will play the viola during the Faneuil Hall performance, which begins Monday at noon.

2. Kindergarten registration continues: Parents, you have until the end of the month to register a kid for kindergarten. Registration dates are initially based on your last name's initial, but don't freak out if you missed your week. You can still register your son or daughter between Jan. 27-31. The Boston Public Schools website has a lot more information about registration here

3. Reminder: Monday is a holiday. City offices will be closed, but most stores and restaurants will stay open. You can see a fuller list of closures here

4. Weather in West Roxbury: The forecast calls for partly cloudy skies and high temperatures in the mid-40's. The recent spate if seasonably warm weather is about to end, however. High temperatures are expected to plunge back into the teens next week.
