Community Classic Brings in the Green for a Great Cause: $68,000 donated to Hearth, a nonprofit organization dedicated to the elimination of elder homelessness

Bolton, Massachusetts - Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts (BCBSMA), in partnership with insurance brokers from across Massachusetts  hosted their annual Community Classic Golf Event at the International in Bolton, MA.  This year’s chosen charity was Hearth, a nonprofit organization that provides permanent housing for the homeless in the Greater Boston area. The tournament raised more than $68,000 that will allow many homeless elders to find a home just in time for the holiday season.

Founded by seven professional women in 1991, Hearth’s mission has always been geared towards ending elder homelessness in Boston. Each founder realized that homeless senior citizens were a growing population and that no one was particularly concerned with. More than 20 years later, Hearth is an expert on the challenges and solutions of ending elder homelessness. At each Hearth residence, each tenant is offered interdisciplinary services such as housing options, mental health care, health services, and social services. Additionally, there are social workers, nurses, personal care homemakers, and resident assistants who are there to assist occupants with any concerns or special needs they may have.
