Mayor-Elect Chooses Riverside Theatre Works for Inaugural Volunteer Effort

Riverside Theatre Works, Hyde Park’s only live theater venue, is getting a much-needed paint job this weekend, courtesy of Mayor-Elect Marty Walsh. A team of volunteers from Walsh’s transition committee, campaign, and inaugural committee will come to Riverside’s historic building on Saturday, January 4 to paint the lobby and stairwells, as part of a program of inaugural activities that emphasize neighborhood strength and community service.

Neighbors and friends are welcome to stop by – or grab a paintbrush and join the effort – between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m.

“We’re honored – and grateful – that Mayor-Elect Walsh and his friends are giving us this help and support,” said Marietta Phinney, Riverside’s founding director. “Our audiences will be thrilled to see the building spruced up. And we’re thrilled that our new mayor understands how the arts can enrich a community.”
