Office to Octagon Hosts Second Annual Fight for Charity Event at the House of Blues on Friday, June 27, 2014

Local Corporate Professionals Step Out of the Cubicle, Out of their Comfort Zones, and into the Octagon to Raise Money for Mixed Martial Arts Inspired Mentoring Organizations

Boston (April 17, 2014) Office to Octagon is proud to announce its return to the cage with its second annual fight card on Friday, June 27, 2014 at the House of Blues® Boston to benefit Boston’s inner-city youth involved with mixed martial arts (MMA) inspired mentoring organizations.

From now until fight night, individuals from the corporate world will step out of their cubicles and out of their comfort zones to learn mixed martial arts in anticipation of facing his or her opponent at Office to Octagon. Twelve brave men and women are confirmed to participate thus far, and each have been training at one of nine partnering gyms learning various mixed martial arts disciplines such as wrestling, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Muay Thai, boxing, grappling and kickboxing.

“Mixed martial arts, staying in peak physical condition and charitable giving have been three passions of mine my entire life,” said Brendan McKee, Founder of Office to Octagon. “I saw an opportunity to combine all three last year, and gained the support of influential organizations and individuals who helped bring my idea to life. Here we are one year later hosting our second annual event with the chance to build on attendees, participants and most importantly, the amount of money raised for some well deserved MMA groups.”

Brendan McKee founded Office to Octagon in 2009 while looking to take on a new challenge encompassing his entrepreneurial mindset and love for mixed martial arts. Brendan noticed a void in Boston’s mixed martial arts scene and felt inspired to create an event that would honor various mixed martial arts disciplines, encourage corporate professionals to get into the octagon for their very first sanctioned match, and raise awareness and funding for local MMA-inspired mentoring organizations. Brendan has a Massachusetts sanctioned matchmakers, promoters and trainers license and colleague Holly Najdzin is the one of the few female licensed promoters in the northeast.

“Office to Octagon has been the most positive experience I have ever had the privilege of being part of,” said last year participant Joseph Robert Muccio. “It’s more than charity, more than just fighting. Brendan is offering the opportunity to build a mindset, an attitude, and a perspective that is unwavering in the face of any challenge.”

Office to Octagon supports and raises funding for several different mixed martial arts inspired mentoring organizations including the MMA Scholarship Fund, Boston Youth Wrestling, Level Ground MMA, Build a Ninja along with the Travis Roy Foundation on behalf of participant Nick Rivers and his close ties to the organization.

Tickets to Office to Octagon range from $100 to $150, and there are several ways to become a sponsor or partner of the event. For more information on both, please contact Brendan McKee at Brendan@officetooctagon.com or visit www.officetooctagon.org.
