5 Things July 12: See 'Rise of the Guardians' at Billings Field!

Need documents shredded? The Cooperative Bank is offering free shredding, even if you're not a customer, on Saturday.


  1. Today is the last day to enter your West Roxbury garden into the Mayor's Garden Contest by the end of July 12.
  2. Enjoy a free movie in the park at Billings Field on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. The movie is 'Rise of the Guardians' and the movie starts at 8 p.m. Facepainting, free popcorn and giveaways!
  3. On Saturday, The Cooperative Bank at 36 Spring St., West Roxbury, is offering a free shredding day. Protect your identity and get your spring cleaning done at the same time. Everyone's invited to bring their old bank statements, credit card offers, and anything else you want shredded. They'll recycle the shredded paper. When you come in, please bring non-perishable food items and we'll donate them to the local food pantry. Starting at 9 a.m.
  4. The ReadBoston Storymobile will be making multiple stops per week at four West Roxbury locations this summer to read to children, give out free books and more! The first day was on Wednesday (July 10) at 10 a.m. at the Roche Family Community Center, and at 11:15 a.m. at Billings Field, and 12:30 p.m. at the Ohrenberger Community Center. The Storymobile will be at the West Roxbury Library on Thursdays at 6 p.m. Click here for the full schedule.
