5 Things July 8: ReadBoston Storymobile (Free Books) in West Roxbury

Chessmaster Charlie will happily teach your child chess at the West Roxbury Library today.


  1. The ReadBoston Storymobile will be making multiple stops per week at four West Roxbury locations this summer to read to children, free books and more! The first day is on Wednesday at 10 a.m. at the Roche Family Community Center, and at 11:15 a.m. at Billings Field, and 12:30 p.m. at the Ohrenberger Community Center. The Storymobile will be at the West Roxbury Library on Thursdays at 6 p.m. Click here for the full schedule.
  2. Register students for the summer reading program at the West Roxbury Library today and tomorrow at 10 a.m.  For free pick up the reading packet and register for special events. For toddlers to grade 8.
  3. Chessmaster Charlie moderates the Ted D'Amato Chess Club at the West Roxbury Library today from 2:30-5:30 p.m. Open for students of all ages and skill levels. Free.
    This program is funded by the Friends of the West Roxbury Branch Library.
  4. Enter your West Roxbury garden into the Mayor's Garden Contest by July 12.
  5. Island tours: Explore Georges and Spectacle Island this summer with free tours led daily by park rangers. Take the ferry from 1 Long Wharf. Ferry rates apply.
