Five Things to do in Boston This Weekend

Find out what's happening in various Boston neighborhoods this weekend.

Taking place this weekend at the Boston Harbor Hotel is the Boston Wine Festival, featuring winery Patz & Hall co-owners Donald Patz and James Hall presenting a display of terrior-driven wines produced from the winery's vineyard sites throughout California. 

The event will feature a seminar and dinner starting Friday at 6:30 p.m. in the Atlantic Room for $195. Attendees can choose a dinner-only option, which begins at 7:30 p.m. for $165. For more information, visit www.bostonwinefestival.net.

The event will continue on Sunday, Feb. 23 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. with Chef Daniel Bruce, who will create a buffet of cajun-style cuisine to honor the legacy of the French Quarter Wine Festival in New Orleans. Sunday's session costs $85. 

New England Boat Show

The 2014 Progressive Insurance New Engaland Boat Show begins this weekend at the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center on Summer Street in Boston. 

The event, which begins Saturday, Feb. 22 and runs through March 2, will be open to boating and sailing enthusiasts and will feature hundreds of the newest boats and on-the-water accessories. More than 300,000 square feet will be filled with the latest boats and nautical equipment. 

Tickets are $15 for adults; free for children 15 and younger (when accompanied by an adult). Advance tickets can be purchased at www.newenglandboatshow.com

Centre Street Community Cleanup 

Hyde Jackson Square Main Street will sponsor a community cleanup of Centre Street in Jamaica Plain on Saturday, Feb. 22 starting at 9 a.m. Participants will join to pick up trash along the roadway; sweep out sand, dirt and road salt and refresh the neighborhood. First Time Home Buyer Seminar: Jamaica Plain

Nearby residents are invited to attend a free first-time home buyer seminar in Jamaica Plain this Saturday, Feb. 22 at 10 a.m. at 673 Centre St. 

The seminar, hosted by Prudential Unlimited Realty, will guide home buyers through the pre-approval process, current market conditions, major steps in the buying process and how to protect one's deposits.
