Gardeners Gather for Green Thumb Insight in West Roxbury

More than 80 individuals attended a local event in West Roxbury on Wednesday.

Nearly 100 gardening enthusiasts from the West Roxbury area united this week to gain insight into the the practice.

The Evening Garden Club of West Roxbury on Wednesday hosted a lecture titled "New Plant Varieties for 2014" with a special discussion by Barbara Pierson, the nursery manager for the plant cataloger White Flower Farm in Morris, Connecticut

As part of the event, Pierson shared photos and advice on what local residents can consider and what they can avoid when gardening in 2014, including tips on planting annuals, perennials, shrubs, vines and vegetables.

"We had more than 80 people in attendance – our biggest meeting ever," said Ann Hopps Morgan, Vice President of the Evening Garden Club of West Roxbury.
