Get Ready for a 'Tree Mob' Tonight at the Arnold Arboretum

Ever experience a tree mob? Tonight you can at the .

At 6 p.m. a tree mob will meet on Peters Hill by the crabapples (please see attached map). 

"Tree Mobs are brief interactions with scientists or other specialists at the Arnold Arboretum, and provide another pathway to connect with the landscape," according to the Arnold Arboretum's website.

This is the first tree mob being held at the Arnold Arboretum during which experts will share little-known facts about the arboretum's living plant collection, its relevance today, and its importance to future generations.

One crabapple that will be discussed is the pygmy Sargent's crabapple, which was introduced to the Arnold Arboretum in 1892. It rarely grows over 10 feet tall, and currently has pretty white flowers.

And how big will the tree mob be? It could be a big crowd like a bountiful harvest crop, or a small yield - we won’t know until it takes place. 

Plan to spend about 15 minutes learning about interesting components the crabapple collection. After the 15 minutes, feel free to continue your exploration of the Arnold Arboretum on your own.
