Should Officials Open a Dog Park in West Roxbury?

Officials plan to gather in West Roxbury to discuss a dog park this Thursday.

West Roxbury residents who are looking for a dog park to open nearby will have a chance to learn more about the possibility on Thursday. 

The Dog Park Association of Southwest Boston is holding a meeting on Thursday, March 20 at 6:30 p.m. at the District E-5 Police Station on 1708 Centre St. in West Roxbury. 

The local nonprofit was formed by volunteers to address the potential of
off-leash dog parks in the communities of Hyde Park, Jamaica Plain, Roslindale and West Roxbury.

Officials had previously discussed the possibility of a dog park at Millennium Park in West Roxbury. More recently, the Dog Park Association submitted a proposal to the Massachusetts Department of Conservation & Recreation (DCR) to develop a dog park on nine acres of blighted land in Stony Brook Reservation, according to its website.  

Residents from the area are encouraged to attend Thursday's meeting, learn more and get involved at the meeting.
