Shaw was an American military officer in the Union Army during the American Civil War .

Lyndon School on Mt. Vernon Street was formerly named the Robert Gould Shaw Middle School.

The school was re-named to honor of local educator Patrick Lyndon.

Who thought it more fitting to   rename the Shaw Shool in honor a Patrick Lyndon...  By what measure was that determined?
Even if  Jack Kennedy had been a native of West Roxbury, it would not have been a fit thing to do?  Is there any record of the discussion that led to the renaming.?

Where the country celebrated Veterans Day this week, Patch asks, should, Robert Gould Shaw have a school be named for him?
