St. Theresa School Hurricane Sandy Aid Collection All Week & Saturday's Bazaar

The St. Theresa's School community is collecting items to send to Hurricane Sandy victims in New Jersey.

This Saturday is St. T's annual Christmas Bazaar, and they will also collecting items for Hurricane Sandy victims in Garfield, NJ, said Carol Dolan of the St. Theresa School PTA.

"This week we will be collecting items to send to the victims of Hurricane Sandy. The donations will be sent directly to the Boys and Girls Club of Garfield, NJ and distributed throughout their community," said Dolan.

Wicked Sharp Ski & Sports has been leading its own Hurricane Sandy relief drive, and St. T's donations along with the numerous donations Wicked Sharp has received will be joined together for one shipment to Jersey. Wicked Sharp also set up the contact with the Boys and Girls Club in Garfield.

Wicked Sharp's Aaron Thompson said the drive has been going well, "This weekend at our shop alone, between clothing and diapers and baby wipes and paper towels, toothbrushes... Everything you would need after losing everything. We probably got 400 to 450 pieces of stuff." 

Thompson said he imagines that number doubling after St. T's drive, and he said he also has more donations in his truck from when people just bump into him. 

The delivery boxtruck is being offered by the energy company, Viridian, after community leader Jim Hennigan contacted the company about getting involved.

"The truck is leaving West Roxbury next Tuesday so we need to get moving!" said Dolan.  

The following is a list of suggested items:

• Coats, boots, hats, gloves, mittens, socks, underwear, diapers, baby wipes, formula, toiletries and bottled water.

Clothing must be clean and ready to be worn.

The bazaar is open from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., and items will be collected during those times.
