West Roxbury Kids Learn About Science (!!) at ParkSCIENCE Children's Festival

The L.L. Bean Bootmobile was one of the attractions that drew more than 400 kids during vacation week.

The ParkSCIENCE Children’s Festival hosted at Franklin Park by the Boston Parks and Recreation Department gave West Roxbury residents a chance to learn, play and drop some eggs.

The free Festival provided fun during February school vacation week on Feb. 20 with indoor and outdoor activities offered in partnership with L.L.Bean, Science from Scientists, New England Aquarium, MIT’s Science on the Street, City Archeologist Joe Bagley, the Massachusetts Horticultural Society Plantmobile, iRobot, the Boston Police Department Forensic Unit, and the Boston Park Rangers.

The L.L.Bean Bootmobile was courtesy of Bootmobile Driver Chris Spinato, and was just one of the attractions that drew more than 400 youngsters.

During the Egg Drop Experiment, children like Gwen, 9, and Tegan Trueblood, of West Roxbury, were encouraged to use common materials to protect their eggs which were then dropped by Parks Department arborist Max Ford-Diamond from his cherry picker.
