West Roxbury Library to Host Poetry Program, Poetry Contest Awards Ceremony

Contest winners will be announced in a ceremony on Thursday.

Following suit with National Poetry Month this April, poetry will be the running theme at the West Roxbury branch of the Boston Public Library next week.

On Tuesday, April 29, the library will host a special "Books of Hope" poetry program for kids in the area. 

The program is held in light of April being National Poetry Month, and youths are invoted to read, write, recite and perform poetry with other participants. The program, which is meant for children aged 6 and older, will run from 4 to 5 p.m. on Tuesday.

Then, on Thursday, May 1, the library will hold an awards ceremony for its 25th Annual Poetry Contest. Award catergories include each of grades K-8, high school, adults and seniors. The theme of his year's poetry contest is "Unexpected." 

The awards ceremony will run from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on Thursday.
