City, Writing Organization Seeking West Roxbury Seniors For Memoir Project

No writing experience is necessary; workshops are set to begin in early April.

and Grub Street, Inc., a non-profit writing organization based in downtown Boston, are offering West Roxbury seniors with stories to tell the tools with which to tell them.

The Memoir Project, which provides workshops to senior citizens to help them craft memoirs, has been to other Boston neighborhoods and its goal is to get to all of them. West Roxbury's turn begins in early April, when a neighborhood location to be determined will begin hosting two-hour Thursday sessions.

"The purpose of the program is to teach senior residents the rudiments of memoir writing and to turn memories into coherent narratives that are later published," said Tula Mahl of the Elderly Commission.
