Adopt-a-Pet-Weekend as Pet Supplies Plus Teams with Animal Rescue League of Boston

October is National Pet Adoption Month. There are plenty of local shelters you can adopt from in the Parkway area.

You don't have to pay $1,000 for a dog from a breeder. There are plenty of dogs (and cats!) who need homes - and you'll be able to meet some of them this weekend at Pet Supplies Plus.

Pet Supplies Plus on the VFW Parkway in West Roxbury is teaming up with the Animal Rescue League of Boston's Dedham Shelter to host an Adopt-a-Pet Weekend on Saturday and Sunday.

  • Every year it is estimated that more than four million cats and dogs – about one every eight seconds – are put down in U.S. shelters due to pet overpopulation and other factors according to the Humane Society.

There are also pets for adoption at the City of Boston's Animal and Adoption Center in Roslindale. Click here to see a photo gallery of some of the animals available for adoption.

In Boston, all three Pet Supplies Plus locations has partnered with the Dedham Shelter to host adoption days at the stores. All 116 Pet Supplies Plus stores across the country are hosting similar events with rescue organizations.

This weekend's events coincide with October being National Pet Adoption Month.  Throughout the entire month of October, Boston’s Pet Supplies Plus locations will continue support for the Dedham shelter by offering shoppers the chance to donate at checkout for their annual October Donation Drive.
